Water birth...

Kita sangat teruja dengan this kindda way untuk deliver..(ni bnyk terpengaruh tengok discovery channel ar ni..hehehe..)..benda ni tak common kat Malaysia pun..pernah tengok before this kat Astro pasal mat salleh beranak dalam bath tub..when I asked my sister, dia pun ckp...kalau deliver dalam air, senang n kurangkan sakit beranak..anyway, baby dalam perut pun duduk dalam air kan??our air ketuban..so, kira one of the way yang boleh diapply masa nak melahirkan baby..

Unfortunately, kat Malaysia takde lagi hospital yang gunakan kaedah ni..Just recently, I read in the newspaper pasal the first couple in Malaysia yang delivered their third child guna waterbirth delivery..and satu-satunya hospital yang buat this kaedah is Pantai Hospital (hospital mahal tuh...fuhh..)..selain dari tu, Island Hospital in Penang pun yang ada birth pool..hehehe..Read this..

PANTAI Hospital Kuala Lumpur (PHKL) has become the first hospital in the Klang Valley to deliver a baby using water techniques.
PHKL chief executive officer Tan Suet Guan said the 3.6kg baby girl, delivered on June 14, was the third child born to proud parents Dinesh and Joanna Cheryan.

"It is another achievement for PHKL and we are proud to be the first hospital in the Klang Valley to have a water birth," Tan said in a statement here today.

She said water birth delivery is an alternative method of childbirth where a pregnant woman is immersed in warm water with the aim of reducing the pain of contractions and ensure comfort.

Tan said that while water birth is still new in the country, such an option has been practised in many countries including the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
She said this delivery is safe for mother and baby as it is natural, non-invasive and relaxing for them. - BERNAMA

And I found another article pasal this waterbirth...

Where do I start if I want a waterbirth in hospital?

If you would like to labour and/or give birth in water, the first thing to do is to talk to your doctor at one of your antenatal appointments. Find out if you are a good candidate for it. If the answer is yes, then you can ask to be referred to a specialist at either Island Hospital in Penang or Pantai Medical Centre in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur; both are private hospitals and are (so far) the only hospitals to have birthing pools and other facilities needed for a waterbirth.

Make an appointment with the specialist. If you find that you are comfortable with this person, then you will likely be asked to seek your antenatal care with him for the rest of your pregnancy.

In the UK, where waterbirths are far more common, women can get an idea of how much experience their hospital has of waterbirth by asking questions such as “How many women give birth in the pool each year?” or “How many midwives are trained in the use of the birthing pool?”. Here, waterbirth has only been available since early 2008, so you have to keep in mind that experienced people are few and far between.

Still, make sure you check that the pool will be available around the time you want to use it.

Where can I find out more about waterbirths?

You can do this through a number of routes:

• Find out about other people's experiences
The best way of understanding what it feels like to labour and give birth in water is to talk to people who have already done it! Talk to women who have used a birthing pool just for pain relief in labour, and to some who have given birth in water. Ask them when they got into the pool, and when they got out; what they found helpful about the water, and what they didn't like. Ask them if their husband or birth companion got into the pool with them. If you don’t know anyone who has experienced it, the Kuala Lumpur-based Gentle Birth Support Group (mygentlebirth@gmail.com) will likely be able to put you in touch with women who have given birth in water.

• Antenatal classes should be a good source of information about waterbirth. When you book classes, do ask whether the classes will include information and discussion about labouring in water. At the beginning of the course, your teacher will probably ask what topics the group wants to cover, so ask for waterbirth. Other members of the group will almost certainly be interested as well!

• Books
Most up-to-date books about pregnancy and childbirth will include a section on waterbirth. Janet Balaskas, founder of the Active Birth movement, has written extensively on the subject.

Korang pun boleh view it from this website:Waterbirth International
